Silk Collages

Made with shimmering Dupioni silk, these pieces create drama whether under natural lighting or indoor lights. Each collage is made of myriad reiterations of hand-cut curved, rectangular or trapezoid shapes. These tumble across the surface, seemingly random but carefully placed to create the resulting image. The Selvedge pieces are more contemplative, the subtle two-toned strips acting as colourful sentinels, while the Op Art pieces are geometric. The pieces have raw edges which leave dangling threads for added texture. Curved parallel lines are sewn over the entire surface, creating subtle shadows. Each collage is mounted onto a stretched artist canvas painted black.
