Silk Collages
Made with shimmering Dupioni silk, these pieces create drama whether under natural lighting or indoor lights. Each collage is made with reiterations of hand-cut curved, rectangular or trapezoid shapes. These tumble across the surface, seemingly random but carefully placed in various directions to create movement. The Selvedge pieces are more contemplative, the subtle two-toned strips performing as colourful sentinels, while the Op Art pieces are bold and geometric. The raw edges of each cut piece add texture with lightly dangling threads. Curved parallel lines are sewn over the entire surface, creating subtle shadows. Each collage is mounted onto a stretched artist canvas painted black.
