Origins

The softness of wool, the reflection of silk, the smoothness of cotton, the sinuousness of rope….long walks and stillness in nature….architecture and singular human-made objects….a line here, a shadow there….friendship, love, grief….discussions, disagreements, books, travel….these are among the impressions that shape my art.

The source of my work begins with these experiences accumulated over a lifetime, and growing daily. I reverse the field glasses, concentrating everything and focusing on a narrow zone which is constantly shifting. As I absorb and then untangle, often unconsciously, I eliminate the inessential and bring to life what is important to my work -  beauty, simplicity, openness, and warmth.
