My art is made with Dupioni silk, a beautiful and rich textile with subtle textures and an ever-changing appearance. Each canvas is designed to take advantage of silk’s chameleon properties; daytime and evening viewings have their individual allure. I construct multiple layers and leave edges of the fabric pieces raw and loose threads unfettered. I stitch the fabric assemblage on my sewing machine, binding the layers and adding texture. Each piece is mounted on a stretched canvas frame painted black and is hung as a painting.
